The Sandy Bay Harrier Club was formed in 1927 and is Tasmania’s longest continuously competing athletics club. As a founding member club of the amateur athletics movement in Tasmania, the club has a rich history. The club’s original blue and white colours, logo with seagull emblem and motto are still in use today. Although the club has had many high level athletes and officials over the years, it has always maintained a tradition of welcoming athletes of all abilities.
The philosophy of the Masters movement is participation. Come along and enjoy yourself in running, walking, throwing and jumping. While membership is restricted to those over 30, children or grandchildren of members are most welcome to participate with us.
The University of Tasmania Athletics Club supports all members to achieve their athletic goals, whether that is representing Australia at the Olympics or achieving a personal best at weekly interclub or in a local fun run. We welcome members from across the state and from any background. As a UTas-affiliated sports club we encourage and support membership from university students and staff, but welcome anyone who wants to join us and be part of the UTas AC team.
